May Lyn’s unique sound is inspired by a global palette of influences including world music, dub, RnB and neo-soul.

Born in Malaysia and now based in Australia, May Lyn’s carefully crafted grooves and lush textures create a sonic landscape that is both culturally rich and universally resonant, while her distinct ethereal voice transports listeners into the heart of her narratives.

May Lyn’s music has received Triple J and International airplay and her EP Vessels was named one of the best releases of 2017 by Purple Sneakers. The album gained a #1 spot on 4ZZZ’s most played releases. Her politically charged single ‘Soldiers’, which questions the ideology of nationalism received a nomination for the QLD Music Awards in 2018 and won her a spot in the annual Triple J NIDA competition. The music video for Soldiers was directed by Theatre Director Alanah Guiry.

2019 saw the release of Like A Woman and Froot Loop, two vibrant tracks celebrating female empowernment. The music video for Like A Woman was directed by Melbourne based filmmakers Ranima Montez and William Duan, and was featured on ABC Rage’s Wild One.

Adding to her artistic journey, May Lyn embarked on a regional arts tour for Refugee Week in 2023 as a performer in ‘Love, Always Love’ a collection of personal stories of hope written during the war in Lebanon by renowned Lebanese musician and singer Samira El Koussa. With new arrangements for Western and Arabic instruments by acclaimed musician Greta Kelly and award-winning composer Corrina Bonshek

Her most recent single, “How Many” has been released on Femme Frequency—a compilation album curated by Sparetime Collective showcasing the talents of 20 Australian female producers. This release underscores May Lyn’s role in the rising movement of women shaping the music industry. With each venture, May Lyn continues to carve her path, lighting the way for others to embrace their own truths and find empowerment, community and connection in music and self-expression.
